HRV (Heating Recovery Ventilator) Cleaning

If you don't know what that is, keep reading!

An “HRV” or Heat Recovery Ventilator is a feature of your heating system that helps to better capture energy from exhaust air from your furnace and transfer it to the fresh air coming in from outside.

It has two separate air handling systems:

  • One collects and exhausts stale indoor air
  • Another draws in outdoor air and distributes it through the home

HRV’s are often located high on the wall above your furnace and resemble a cold air return grille.

Since an HRV is part of the HVAC system, we must clean them to guarantee the whole system has been cleaned. We clean the unit itself by removing and cleaning the heat exchange core and fans.

Your HRV will have 2 filters, one on each side, and they should be vacuumed, washed & dried at least every 2 months. Consult your HRV’s owner’s manual for more on how The Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV) maintains air quality in your home.

These guys were awesome. They used drop sheets and boot protectors to protect our floors and plastic corner protectors to guard against damaging paint with their suction hose. We were informed of a couple of furnace matters needing our attention and were offered options regarding filter replacements. They finished quickly and received payment on site electronically. We did notice (after they left) a few water stains on the floor near some vents that were easily wiped up. We still highly recommend them and will use them again.Service: HVAC duct & vent cleaning
